It's Malting Good!

This Balvenie Doublewood Single Malt Scotch Whisky I had was a 12 year old single malt which gains its distinctive character from being matured in two woods.

This baby has a very fragrant nose of fruits and sherry, layered with honey and sweet vanilla.  I am so impressed with this Balvenie 12 years old that I will have to seriously consider trying any 18 year old bottling. The older the better as always but it just fails on the price point.

Anyway, this scotch felt so right without any rough edges, so smooth and totally inoffensive that I don't think I can easily go back to Johnnie Walker Black Label or Chivas Regal 12 years.
