The Intelligence in Singapore's Car Parks

Life's full of chaos we know and thank goodness there are some technology innovations out there to help simplify some part of it for us.

I am thoroughly impressed by the intelligent car park systems in some of the newer, bigger malls in Singapore.  They contain car parking space sensors which detect each and individual slot's availability.

This information is processed and then displayed in signs around the car park, directing shoppers to areas where there are free spaces. Saving them time going round and round searching for free space, thus spending more time inside the mall doing what they go there for - shopping!

Life's little helper this is.

Westfield London has similar system! I was so impressed the first time I saw it too! It even tells you how many spaces on the left or right for each row as you drive through the car park ;)

You have similar tracking system in HK.
IFC... Times Square too I think.

What is more impressive that I have yet to see in HK is a "combined" tracking system. Somewhere in Orchard road, near Ngee Ann City area, there is a electronic signboard that tells you the no. of car park spaces in major carparks around Orchard Road - e.g Ngee Ann City, Paragon, Marina Sq,. This saves you the hassle of going to different car parks to check it out. You know at once which car park has more empty lots and you just drive there straight away.
