No Black And White For Cancer

I woke up on Friday to a horrific, shaking update on Hayden - the reappearance of a disease that had once disappeared.

And time stood still...

I used to think very naively about Cancer. You either got cancer or you didn’t.  And if you were unfortunate to receive a cancer diagnosis, you were placed on a treatment regimen (chemo, radiation or surgery) and you were either cured or you lost your battle.

But just how many of you know that millions out there who are living with cancer without an “end date”?

They are told with every heart-breaking relapse that a "cure" is harder to find in the cards.

It is a hard pill to swallow but if you are reading this and anxious to help someone you love, please help embrace the shades of gray by stop asking, “How long will this treatment be?” or “When will the treatment be done?”

Let's partner with the patient and his family to appreciate the gift of every day!  It's probably the best we can offer.

I hope you are not referring to your little friend who once had NB? My heart goes out to you and his family... Hoping for the best!
